The Cauldron's Muse is a hermit trapped within the crater of a semi active volcano, feeding on lizards and belching profanities at his imagined protagonists.

I recorded it inside a Citroen Berlingo parked behind a dry stone wall in Shap Cumbria with sheep bleating through the night

This crater – this Vulcan crater
from the bowels
From the bowels of the earth these crocodiles of fire come snapping at my heals
Like naked berries, my blisters here all stretched shall yield in vein surrender

BALROG !!!

What alchemy here burns inside my pit
The flames of hunger make a furnace from
my bag of air and spit
So now shall I fill my toothless mouth with rocks and lie upon my side,
a gaping crevice for a lizard here to make a bride.
Snap shut I shall upon the telling tale,
all thrashing like a crazed tongue… all garbled nonsense shouting
… as the pulse in passing makes my life more long

CARBUNCLES !!!

spring forth the puss of decades brewed
the seed from lustful stallions landing nigh upon the fertile ash.
and so now spring forth uncurling ferns !
the necks of dragons jungled so like writhing worms

Upon the razor air to breathe, upon the scorching steam to sip,
And belch a furnace at the blinding king of light,
who saddled in the spine of heaven’s back
hath set a crackle in the knuckles of my back

So now seated in the cauldron of my bile,
bear witness to “The Muse Beguiled”
