Wrote the riff for this on a balalaika tuned in a fifth and fourth. It took my imagination to sailors adrift at sea and the lyrics came from there.
lyrics
For many days a stillness
Lay upon this mercury
A thickness held our pressing blades
Hands stretched from the briny deep
A blistering sun, A phantom isle
Empty belly, toothless smile
Heave Ho
Heave Ho
What weakness lies inside a soul
The essence of a beaten will
Where comes the grit of stone and bone
That drives us forward ever still...
"Feast the grin and sink the waves
This shall not be my final day"
Heave ho
Heave ho
