about
This track is experimental and cinematic.
The sound scape has been built using only midi instruments from the Spitfire and Decent Sampler sound libraries.
There are voiceovers, taking the form of notation, quotation from characters (implying story), and textures in the soundscape.
The script for the prose suggests an antiquated otherworldliness and a forfeit to the god Poseidon (The Earth Shaker) - One that will be returned involuntarily.
In terms of genre, this track may fit with Steampunk. There is the flavour of H.G. Wells, Jules Verne and perhaps a touch of Edgar Alan Poe.
For the track art work, I manipulated high definition photographs of the leather jacket I have altered for use with my basses in The Dane Shamrak stage show and photographs of Singer Carpet Stitchers.
I commissioned Sean Taylor King to produce the images in 2021
lyrics
Sound the bell !
A bag of grain for uncle Jeremaia.
A pocket full of silver for the maid who stole the key
To the Earth Shaker's chest of clockwork devils.
A sign for dark foreboding
Purches sallow 'bove the brow.
With this, I say to thee...
"A finer ship,
None could ever dream
Into the world of wakeful being"
Such task it is for steel to brave
Storm and wave; Poseidon's rage
Lord hear my prayer that all might be undone
And all the lost be saved...
Lord hear my prayer that all might be undone
And all the lost be saved...
Lord hear my prayer that all might be undone
And all the lost be saved...
