Enter the world of The Chestnut Bard; a creature who was created by a sisterhood of trees; created with a sense of mischief. A creature who has walked the earth for thousands of years learning and entertaining. A world where the familiar internal struggles of light and dark are acknowledged and held in balance. A world where Carma is personified and visits those who ................. are naughty :)

Two stories featuring the Chestnut Bard. The first, about a coming of age, the the third is one of loss, compassion and forgiveness.
The second (the centre piece) is in an allegorical riff on the struggle between light and dark

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN 2014

These stories were first published in 2014 at Fell Edge in West Yorkshire as part of a triple album. The stories were accompanied by art work in the form of a 32 page booklet .

THE BROADER CONTEXT OF CREATION

These recordings were produced in conjunction with visual imagery and extensive managerial work of producing a presentation; a launch event. During this time I worked closely with the photographer Krystyna Fitzgerald-Morris, The festival organiser Frances Powel and the graphic Design business Artifice. I made The Chestnut Bard and Wheaten Harvest costumes and the actress Mandi Harket played the role of The Wheaten Harvest in the photoshoot.

CHOICE OF MEDIA FOR PUBLICATION

I chose not to try to get my stories published in book form. I tour, and I'd seen people trying to shift their books in open mics. Questions I had in my mind were:, Would this just be a vanity project? and Would I have room for a big pile of book stock in my car? Would I manage to sleep next to it while out on the road? I decided to sell these stories in the form of hybrid CDs together with my music.

This publication is an opportunity to once again present the stories along side the art work (photography) that should always have accompanied it. Check out the track art. (I am working on a media package that will dip further into the wealth of imagery produced by the photographer Krystyna Fitzgerrald-Morris.
